Battle of the Storm

This was done as a continuance of my Poem "Battle of the Storm". it is also a part of Jennyeight's contest.

I used acrylic paints on a 30" x 26" stretched canvas. It took me a total of five hours to paint between two days.

Here is the poem it is based off of.

"The darkness is surrounding me,
Its closing in fast.
Dark clouds swirl above me angrily,
Just waiting for their time to last.
The light's fading quickly,
There's no where left to run.
Thunder roars across the Heavens,
Warding off the Sun.
Where'd all the light go?
Why did it go away?
Why is there all of this pain in my heart,
That insists that it has to stay?
The rain is coming now,
Is it coming for me?
So much dark hatred in a single storm,
I wonder who set it free?

Lightning illuminates the sky,
Is it a warning of something close by?
The fury of the winds whips through my hair,
But it also takes with it my fears and cares.

I am empty now, there is little light left in me.
No fears or cares, no worries, no pain.
No love or hate, no elation, no passion.
Wait though, yes, there it is!
Small, growing, little by little,
A brilliant light fights gallantly for survival.

This angry rain is also a calming guardian,
sending away the pain and darkness.
Leaving behind only renewal, life, and the start for something new.
The flood plains of my heart are cleansed as the storm continues.

The darkness rages as the battle forever goes on,
Life, Death, all hang perilously in the balance.
Which will you let win inside you?"
